Sundog’s Form Loom book is a great read and has lots of nice tips in

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Okay for a mere 9.95 you can get a lovely little book from Inside RapidWeaver site. http://insiderapidweaver.com/ The FormLoom Styles book is great read, typical of Larry’s writing style! You can get 20% of any purchase just by using the coupon code “FALLFORMLOOMBOOK” so that takes your cost from 9.95 down to seven dollars and some change. It is worth the price of admission. Another great bit of news is that SeyDoggy design is celebrating their 4th year of bring fantastic themes to RapidWeaver users! So Much cool stuff so little time to play with it all.

RapidWeaver Plugin reviews adding shopping cart to your site!

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Okay you know I am a big fan of Rapid Weaver!
The folks over at Yabdab have a great new plugin for RW, it is call Cartloom! (yes they have given us Formloom, Payloom, & Goggleloom).

What cartloom is another shopping cart service (yes I said service) with a plugin for RW. The service will be $9.95 per month starting in January 2010, for now it is free (since it is a beta phase) it is a nifty service. You can setup your products via slick web interface or via the cartloom plugin (which is free and they have a stacks version as well) in rapid weaver! It is way nice. http://www.cartloom.com Cartloom is a 5 star product and should be considered by everyone.

Another contender is RapidCart plugin http://www.omniidea.it/rapidcart/
It is a nice idea and pretty well executed, however the developers rely on the RW users for most of the testing and debugging of the plugin ( I have been testing RC since the first release, got a free license but not allowed to upgrade it to release 2 of the product which I have tested as well), with little to no reward for the time it takes to debug their plugin. Over all I can’t recommend RapidCart since the support is not quite what I feel is needed. Also the developers seem to not be willing to support those who do a lot of their work for them at no cost. The Cost of this plugin $24.95 Euros making it one of the most expensive plugins for RapidWeaver!

Well this is what happened on my Atlanta Trip

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Okay Nortel is really cheap, they ask me on Thursday to fly to Atlanta on Sunday the 13th.. Okay I look via our internal travel site to book my flight (we have to use them, it is really AMEX travel services, they charge us 6.00 per booking session). Okay I call my boss a tell him the flight will be 680.00 round trip, I am told to find a cheaper flight. I find one on US Airways for 507. with 1 stop in Phoenix it leaves at 5:04 AM on Sunday morning.. Okay I have to do it. I get up and leave at 3:00 am for the airport (Jason my oldest give me a ride thank you Jason). My flight leaves SeaTac no problems (okay a gate change from one terminal to another it happens), We land in Phoenix on time (okay had a isle seat for this leg trip) I have a 3 hour wait. The Plane shows up with a broken seat that US Air fixes in a 1 hour and 50 mins.. They load us on the plane, we taxi out and the generator light come on so back to the terminal where we spent the next 2.5 hours waiting for hte plane to be fixed (while still on the plane in the Arizona heat!), They can’t fix the generator so they decide to run the APU instead, the pilot has to sign off some paperwork then we take off 3 hours late. While in the air Atlanta is having weather issue (okay it happens), but we are low of fuel and can’t be moved to the head of the line. The Pilot tells us we have 25 mins of fuel and they want to divert us to a airport 35 mins away, (he left out the part that it can’t handle a A320 airbus at is terminal), we reroute to South Carolina to a regional airport for fuel.. they don’t have a supply of jet fuel for A320, so we have to wait for it to be trucked in #.5 hours later the fuel truck shows up, we get fueled up (mean time they have no ice, water or anything to drink left on the plane or any food to buy either!) we finally take of at 11:00 pm local time to get to Atlanta (they did not let us off the plane!) It takes 40 mins to fly to Atlanta Hurray!. We land in Atlanta and have to wait 70 minutes for a gate! What the Crap is THAT! I finally get off the plane head to the taxi stand to get a cab to the hotel, (now past midnight!) Wait for 45 minutes more get a cab 35 min ride to the hotel, get to the hotel and find out the cabbie only takes cash unless you prepay at the airport.. Okay I took 40 dollars in cash plus I had like 3 dollars in lose change in my backpack. Wipes my cash out. Check in to the hotel, ask if room service is still serving ( have not eaten any thing since I left Phoenix, told yes I am good to go.. Head to my room pass the ATM machine (hurray!) pull out 60.00 for lunch and my cab fare back to the airport (jus tin case MARTA is not running at 5:00 am on Tuesday when I head back). Get in to my room. call room service place my order (soup is the only thing they have), wait 5 mins get a call telling me they are out of calm chowder (what I ordered of course), order something else they show up like 4 minutes later. Woo Hoo food at last!

June 12th TGIF!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

It has been a fun week, playing with my new mac, upgrading the iMac (actually replacing it with my old MBP 17) in the family room. Moving all of the kids profiles, and it worked via ethernet! Sweet eh.
That was the good part, the bad part was deal with SmithMicro’s online store’s screw up on my order! It took 17 emails to support with nothing but the run around, thank goodness for PayPal! Open a dispute claim with them and that got action, my issue was taken care of in less than 8 hours! Sweet!

Life with my new Macbook Pro 17 2.66

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Okay I loved my first generation MacBook Pro 17, it has served me well for the past 3 years! It has gotten 2 hard drive upgrades, a memory upgrade, as well as a 802.11N wireless card! Franken Mac as I call it was a great system. My new system is just great 4 gig of ram (max of 8 gig) and a 320 gig hard drive (okay this is the first upgrade going to a 500 gig 7200 rpm drive, it fills my need for speed). I have had my new system for about 4 days now and I love the darn thing.

Migrating my settings and apps was a 2 step tasks it seems (migration assistant) did not like moving my Windows virtual machines (okay Apple fix it in snow leopard please, the issue was due to long file names). It also did not move my iTunes files (since it quit before it was finished due to the issue mentioned above).

The new hardware makes virtual box just fly! (I am running Windows 7 as a VM in that), fusion even has more speed as well.
Not to mention iLife 09 is much faster on the hardware as well! I have found on little issue it seems (okay more than one) when I run disk utilities it seems to find a bunch of permission errors, (okay that happens).

iSkySoft products as a rip off!

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Okay if you are looking for video conversion software to windows or Mac don’t buy ANYTHING From ISkySoft! They have lousy support, the web site says you can get a refund within 30 days of purchase this is a flat out lie! They send you to their refund policy that contradicts that statement! Basically they are ripping everyone off! DON”T EVEN VISIT THEIR SITE! There customer support is the worst, they cut and paste the same responses over and over! They clam they can handle DRM files (under Windows version) and convert them. Nope! lies and MORE Lies…
Product Name: iSkysoft iMedia Converter for Mac Order Number: 284852 Created: 2009-03-27 00:23:09
Subject: Please I want a refund
I was under the impression that this application could convert movies purchased via iTunes into DVD’s, it does not work. That is why I purchased the product. Since it can’t do what I need it too do please refund my purchase.

Then if that is your stance, fine but you won’t like what I will be blogging about your products.. your site is not clear.. I have several of your other products that I am removing as well. Thanks for nothing… iSkysoft your stuff is CRAP! I spent over 100.00 on your junk, and currently testing your beta software for MAC. Not any longer.. Good luck you will never get another piece of business…

Hi, Thanks for contacting us.
Generally , If the video is purchased from iTunes , they will be strictly protected with DRM , which is designed to prevent the video from being re-edited . And our program could not deal with them due to the strict DRM protection .
Also , our website has stated clearly that the video with DRM protection is not supported . please have a look at our website . Thank you !
And here is our refund policy, http://www.moviesmac.com/support/refund-policy.html. Please have a look at it. may I ask have you tried the free trial before purchasing ? if so , you will find that the videos purchased from iTunes are not supported . And I am afraid that the request for refund is really difficult to be passed . Sorry about that !
Best regards!
